Disputing – How to Fix my credit score, dropped by 60 points
From what I discovered during my calls, the significant drop in my credit score was
due to incorrect information from a car lease in 4 years ago.
Resolving this error through a dispute was my top priority.
As I mentioned in my blog, when dealing with the U.S. credit system,
the first step is to call the 3 major credit bureaus
and identify the biggest factors impacting your credit score.
This way, you can understand what’s dragging it down the most.
Therefore, avoid using any third-party services that reach out to you offering to fix or settle your credit score, especially if you’re unclear about what they actually do for you, yet still require payment for their services.

3 Credit Bureaus_How to Fix my credit score, dropped by 60 points
Each credit bureau has a website where you can register with your personal information.
Once registered,
you’ll find a link to dispute errors on your report, like the one I needed for my case.
This approach is faster and more reliable than calling the company that left the negative feedback.
Once a dispute is filed, the credit bureau provides a result within 30 days.
In the meantime, you can also call the leasing company directly to explain the situation
and request a dispute on their end as well, which can speed up the process.
In the next post, I’ll go over how to dispute directly with the leasing company.
